Sounds and vibrations

In our modern world of virtual reality creations, Hollywood has spent years and billions of dollars to recreate the feelings and emotions of being in a space.  Yet, when most people look at buying a building they rarely consider the impact of sounds and vibrations within and around the building they are considering.

This is why your essence of being needs to take time to live in the present moment of buying and consider your senses when standing in a space.

If you study the native tribes anywhere on the globe the sensibilities of survival or any culture they have a close sense of connection with nature.  In order to survive, they learn to listen to sounds and vibrations, from the sounds of the leaves rustling above to the vibrations on the ground below.

As a homebuyer or investor, an important part of your review or rating of a place must consider what noises, sounds and vibrations make up an evaluation of comfort in a place.

The effects of a tenant with a large dog in an apartment next door running back and forth a 2:00 am can make other tenants in adjacent apartments run for the hills when their lease expires.  As a homebuyer does the sound of a train bother you? How about the vibrations of that train a block away?  If in a big city what is tolerable maybe intolerable in the suburbs…truck noises, people noises, doors opening and closing, elevators doing what they do.

On another note, the sounds of a courtyard or garden with birds singing in a treetop or a sense of pea gravel path under your feet can be transformative to ones soul.  Water and the vibration of waves crashing on a shoreline can make that lakefront or oceanfront home worth the few extra dollars.

Along your search this sense of feeling sounds and vibrations can be given more weight and meaning than all other senses combined.  This is the sense of being is a discussion one has with those involved in your purchase, from your Agent to your significant other.

So many times when looking at a place, clients and agents are all standing on a patio, numbers are run, calculations are made, comparables have been poured over and then in a quiet moment without anyone speaking, we hear the rustle of leaves above, then all look at each other and nod “yes”.  It is upon acknowledging that moment of quiet your rating of a place becomes clear.
