Safety & Security

What one views as safe may appear to be scary to others and vice-versa.

The best interpretation when one views a place is a personal understanding of what is real versus what is imagined.  As such take an eagles eye view of the world then zoom in to the real details.

These are the most important considerations:

Areas susceptible to mother nature such as flooding, landslides, or earthquakes.

Crime – What kind of crime happens here?

Public security such as police response times, where they are and how often.

Private security.  Some neighborhoods / communities hire their own security companies beyond the regular police.

Neighbors – Are people around in the day? How about at night? Who is there all the time? Who’s watching and when?  Is there a sense of community? The best neighbors and neighborhoods goes back to the days of small villages where there is a sense of belonging, where all kinds of people of all walks and stages of life live together in the same community.

Overall Quality of Life.

Be careful to not judge a book by its cover of creed, race or religion.  Beyond being illegal for Real Estate professionals to direct buyers to one area over another, it does not do a Buyer justice.  Work with professionals that instead take time to listen to your needs and how you would like to live.

At the end of the Buyers’ day, it is a personal decision based on how one views the world in a specific time and place.
